Mama Adia Shabazz

Adia Shabazz is the operator and primary instructor for Fahodi Shule homeschool cooperative in Richmond, VA (www.fahodishule.org) Formerly a public school teacher in Richmond and Fairfax County, VA, she is passionate about education being holistic and meeting the cultural, academic, spiritual and emotional needs of Afrikan children.  Adia and her husband are active participants in CIBI, as well as organizers in their community, in addition to Fahodi Shule the Shabazz family organizes Black Marriage Day in Richmond and the Richmond Kwanzaa Kollective annual celebrations.   Adia and Kindu Shabazz are also members of the Ankobea society of Washington DC and continue the work of nationbuilding with other Afrikan families as well. A native of Richton Park, Illinois, Adia is the eldest of 3 children. She attained her BA in English as well as her Masters Degree in Teaching from Hampton University.  In addition, she has a Master degree in divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.  She has written curriculum for different educational resources as well as owns Black Woman Press, LLC.  Adia currently resides in Richmond with her husband and children. 

 

Mama Adia is married to Kindu Shabazz and together, they are parents to 6 children from age 3 to 22.
